The Legacy of Liberty
Charter of the Liberty School Reunion Association
Preamble: A group of Liberty High alumni: Mabel Martin, Anita Davis, Lillian Olinger, and Chester Rose, assembled in Hazard, Kentucky on July 4, 1994 and reached consensus that the memory, spirit, and legacy of Liberty High School, the second Afro—American High School established in Perry County, Kentucky in 1936, should be remembered, cherished, preserved and perpetuated in perpetuity to its students, alumni, supporters, and friends for as long as there are memories. To that end, this group of alumni decided to form themselves into the Liberty High School Reunion Association for which this Charter is adopted.
Purpose of the Association
The Liberty School Reunion Association shall serve to strengthen the bond of memories among its alumni, former students, friends, and well-wishers, of our dear beloved Liberty High School. The Association shall support activities to encourage broad and active participation by all members of the Liberty School community and to assist the Association in becoming a strong, viable, and community oriented organization, of which we can all take pride in.
