About SEKYAAMCC

History is made by the people, belongs to the people, and is told by the people. However, the history of the African-American in Southeast Kentucky has been left untold. Their chapter has been left out of the book on Kentucky history.

Who we are

We are a new African-American museum and cultural center located in Hazard, Kentucky, the goal of which includes highlighting and sharing the stories of African-Americans in Eastern Kentucky for years to come.

What's next?

As our website progresses, we are preparing our museum and cultural center location. As a non-profit, we accept and appreciate donations of various types. Please contact us for further information.

Meet the Founder.

“I love the mountains of Southeast Kentucky. The people are a treasure with stories waiting to be told.” I am glad for the opportunity to return to the work of exploring, preserving, and sharing the history of the African-American in our region. I’ve come full circle once again.”
