"Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us."
- WILMA RUDOLPH
History is made by the people, belongs to the people, and is told by the people. However, the history of the African-American in Southeast Kentucky has been left untold. Their chapter has been left out of the book on Kentucky history.
We are a new African-American museum and cultural center located in Hazard, Kentucky, the goal of which includes highlighting and sharing the stories of African-Americans in Eastern Kentucky for years to come.
As our website progresses, we are preparing our museum and cultural center location. As a non-profit, we accept and appreciate donations of various types. Please contact us for further information.

"There is no more powerful force than a people steeped in their history. And there is no higher cause than honoring our struggle and ancestors by remembering."
Emily Jones Hudson“I love the mountains of Southeast Kentucky. The people are a treasure with stories waiting to be told.” I am glad for the opportunity to return to the work of exploring, preserving, and sharing the history of the African-American in our region. I’ve come full circle once again.”
