C. Britt Combs, M.D.

Perry County’s First and Only Black Physician. When he began doctoring in Hazard his business was small, only a few Negro patients, but sickness became so numerous, especially influenza, pneumonia, and tuberculosis that his business increased so much until he had to get a larger building and a better horse. Sometimes he owned two horses. He had a building large enough for living quarters, office, and small hospital.
